Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal has highlighted President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to the development of the Maldivian sports sector.
Commissioner Tholal made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Women’s CAVA Cup 2025, which is being hosted in the Maldives.
He referred to a number of government initiatives aimed at expanding and developing sports facilities across the country, noting that President Muizzu has placed strong emphasis on strengthening the sports sector. Commissioner Tholal commended the president’s efforts and described them as significant contributions made on behalf of the national sports community.
The sports commissioner said that hosting international competitions such as the Women’s CAVA Cup provides valuable opportunities to showcase the talents of local athletes on home soil. He added that such events also increase opportunities for referees and technical officials, while contributing positively to youth development.
Commissioner Tholal further noted that international sporting events help to strengthen ties between participating countries and promote cooperation through sports.
He reiterated that the development of the Maldives’ sports sector remains a top priority of the government.
