Islamic Ministry to Introduce Annual Award for Top Hajj and Umrah Service Providers

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to introduce a special award to recognise local companies that provide the best Hajj and Umrah services.

In the Maldives, Hajj and Umrah were previously organised by both government and private companies. However, due to post-COVID challenges, the Hajj Corporation has managed all Hajj pilgrims since 2023.

Private companies are still allowed to organise Umrah trips. The Islamic Ministry aims to create a competitive environment to ensure high-quality services for pilgrims.

While a special award is being introduced to recognise exceptional service providers, rules and guidelines for the award have already been drafted, and will be discussed with service providers during the Hajj and Umrah Conference before finalising them. The award system will be launched next year.
