Two Maldivian Families Relocated Due to Sri Lanka Floods, Says High Commissioner

Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mas’ood Imad has confirmed that assistance has been provided to two Maldivian families affected by the heavy rain and flooding in Sri Lanka.

Speaking during the “Ceylon Aa Eku Dhivehin” telethon held to raise funds for Sri Lanka, High Commissioner Mas’ood said although heavy rains have now eased, authorities continue to warn of possible flooding and landslides in several areas. He noted that assistance has been provided to two Maldivian families living in areas at risk and relocated to hotels. Their situation is being closely monitored by the Maldivian Embassy, he added.

The High Commissioner also advised travellers to avoid transiting through the Colombo Airport over the next five days. Travellers are urged to contact the embassy through its hotline if any assistance is required.
