Maldives President Offers Condolences Following Turkiye Military Plane Crash

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his condolences to Turkiye, following tragic crash of a Turkish military cargo aircraft in Georgia, which resulted in the loss of many lives.

In a message on social media, President Dr Muizzu offered his deepest condolences to the President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish people and members of the bereaved families.

“May Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal paradise and give their loved ones patience and strength,” he said.

The President also expressed confidence that the ongoing search and rescue operations will be swift and successful, affirming that Maldives remains in solidarity with Turkiye at this time of national loss.

Twenty Turkish soldiers were killed when the military transport plane crashed in Georgia on Tuesday.

Ankara has not provided a reason for the crash, but said Turkish and Georgian authorities started inspections at the site, located in the Sighnaghu municipality of Georgia's Kakheti district.
