President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Member of Parliament Husnee Mubarik as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Husnee Mubarik was appointed to the Judicial Service Commission in his capacity as a member representing the Parliament. The appointment ceremony was held on Wednesday at the President’s Office, where the President presented the letter of appointment to Husnee Mubarik, who signed it upon being sworn in.
Prior to the appointment, Husnee Mubarik took the oath of office, which was administered by Supreme Court Justice Ali Rasheed Hussain.
Following his appointment, the JSC convened a meeting later the same day, during which Husnee Mubarik was elected as the President of the Commission in accordance with Article 7 of the Judicial Service Commission Act.
The JSC comprises 10 members. The parliamentary seat became vacant following the resignation of Member of Parliament Hussain Riza Adam from the JSC, where he previously served as the Commission’s President. The Parliament approved the appointment of Husnee Mubarik to replace Riza on 27 October.
According to the Judicial Service Commission Act, any vacant membership post must be filled within 30 days.
