Vice President Highlights Govt’s Commitment to Strengthening Internal Audit Frameworks

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting internal auditors and addressing the challenges they face in carrying out their responsibilities.

Speaking as chief guest at the State Internal Audit Conference 2025, held Wednesday, the Vice President underlined the crucial role of internal auditors in enhancing accountability and transparency within state institutions. He announced that a framework for internal auditors has already been established and assured that improvements to the remuneration of auditors working in Government offices would be introduced in the near future.

Stressing the importance of safeguarding the independence of the State’s audit system, the Vice President noted that enabling auditors to perform their duties without interference, and ensuring the full implementation of their recommendations, would help transform state institutions and State-owned Enterprises into more accountable, efficient, and corruption-resistant bodies that serve the best interests of the public.

He further emphasised that auditors play a pivotal role in strengthening administrative governance and maintaining public trust in state institutions. Reinforcing internal controls, he noted, would ensure that every Rufiyaa spent by the state generates maximum value for the people.

Reflecting on the theme “Driving Public Value – Internal Audit in the Era of Accountability and Change”, the Vice President observed that auditors must adapt and innovate in response to today’s rapidly changing global environment, marked by unprecedented risks and challenges. He added that platforms such as the State Internal Audit Conference provide valuable opportunities to address these pressing issues.

During the ceremony, the Vice President also inaugurated the Risk Management Framework and Internal Audit Strategic Action Plan, a milestone initiative aimed at strengthening governance across the public sector.
