Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) is preparing to introduce neurology treatment to its growing list of healthcare services.
AEH said it was gearing up to introduce the services of specialist neurologists to add to the endocrinology services for hormonal and metabolic diseases and nephrology services for kidney-related diseases now available since last month.
With the introduction of neurology services, the quality of treatment for brain, nervous and neurological diseases will be greatly improved while also providing a way for the Addu and nearby Atolls to get treatment for diseases such as stroke, epilepsy, nerve inflammation and migraine closer to home, saving them time and money.
The endocrinology service, which the AEH has been providing since last month, is also crucial for hormonal and metabolic diseases that are common in the community. These diseases include diabetes, thyroid disease and other hormone-related diseases and the ease of access to treatment facilitates early detection and timely treatment.
The hospital has also resumed nephrology services for kidney-related diseases such as dialysis services and has been a welcome relief to the resident population in the south of the Maldives.
The AEH is the hub of healthcare services in the south, and the introduction of such specialised services will be a major step forward for the health sector development in the more populous regions of the Maldives.
