MPL Clears 6,320 TEUs in July Amid Improved Port Efficiency

The number of containers cleared by the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) last month increased by 6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the company's latest statistics.

According to MPL statistics, 6,320 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) were cleared from the company's ports in July, compared to 5,940 TEUs cleared in the previous month. This included 2,380 20-foot containers and 1,970 40-foot containers.

In July, MPL's port services were provided to 20 conventional vessels and 16 container vessels. Among perishable goods, eggs were the most cleared item in July.

MPL is working to expedite its services and speed up its operations. The company has noted significant improvements in cargo clearance times compared to the previous year. The company said the time taken by MPL to clear goods has been reduced by many times over as part of its efforts to streamline port operations.
