Malaysia Airlines will increase flights between the Malaysian capital and the Maldives ahead of the busy winter season.
The airline which resumed operations to Maldives after a seven year hiatus in August last year, will increase frequency to the island nation from daily to 11 weekly flights from 30 October.
The airline deploying the 174-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 on the direct route will operate the additional four services per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
On the direct route, Malaysia Airlines competes head-on with AirAsia and Batik Air.
Malaysia remains a popular holiday and study destination for Maldivians.
In the first six months of this year, 11,269 tourists arrived from Malaysia compared to the 6,517 in the same period last year - marking an increase of 72.9 percent.
