Ismail Sajid Appointed as Head of MMA’s Financial Intelligence Unit

Ismail Sajid has been appointed as the new Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

Sajid replaces Abdulla Ashraf, who was transferred to the position of the Head of Risk and Compliance on 31 July.

The Financial Intelligence Unit is responsible for investigating financial fraud and suspicious transactions. The MMA said the leadership changes are part of organisational restructuring aimed at strengthening MMA’s management.

Ismail Sajid previously served as a former member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal. He resigned from the post in July, prior to his new appointment.
