A colourful float parade has been held on Saturday night as part of the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day celebrations.
The float parade began at 21:00 from the Rasfannu beach area, and made its way along Majeedhee Magu, to conclude near the Henveiru Bridge area. A large number of spectators, including families and children, gathered along the streets to watch the event.
The parade featured floats from several state-owned enterprises. The vibrant and creatively themed floats were well received by both adults and children alike.
In order to give more members of the public the opportunity to view the displays up close, the floats will also be showcases at the Central Park in Hulhumale’ on Monday.
Among Independence Day activities, the float parade has always been a popular activity among people of all ages.
