Maldives to Host 21st Asia Media Summit in 2026

The 21st Asia Media Summit will be held in the Maldives next year, marking the first time the summit will take place in the island nation. The announcement was made during the handover ceremony of the 20th Asia Media Summit, held on Wednesday.

The official handover document was received on behalf of the Maldives by Heena Waleed, the Presidential Spokesperson. The announcement was well received by the participants of the 20th Asia Media Summit.

The Asia Media Summit will be held in the Maldives in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and the Maldives’ national media, Public Service Media (PSM). This event is expected to offer a valuable opportunity to promote the Maldives across the world.

The 20th Asia Media Summit, held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, was attended by more than 300 delegates from over 30 countries, including senior media professionals and policymakers from across the Asia-Pacific region. The Maldivian delegation included representatives from PSM, the Maldives Broadcasting Commission and other media professionals.

The Asia Media Summit, held since 2004, is a flagship annual conference of AIBD. It serves as a platform for global media and broadcasting leaders to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore strategies for development and innovation of the media sector.

The main theme of this year's conference is "Celebrating Two Decades of Excellence and Beyond”.
