Police to Dedicate Separate Building for Family and Child Protection Unit

The Family and Child Protection Service of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) will be relocated to the building under construction in front of T-Jetty in Maafannu ward.

The ongoing construction of the building was inspected by the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar and senior police officials.

Due to space constraints, the unit primarily tasked with child related investigations is currently forced to accommodate victims and the accused in the same building.

However, once the unit is relocated to the new building, it will significantly enhance services provided with service provision specially designed for victims of sexual, physical and mental abuse along with a child-friendly environment will be established in dealing with such cases, MPS said.
