Council Invites Investors to Develop Tourist Hotel in Mathiveri Finolhu

The Mathiveri Island Council has invited investors to develop a tourist hotel in Mathiveri Finolhu.

Mathiveri Finolhu is a small uninhabited island near Mathiveri which was handed over to a private party to develop a resort in 2014. However, after the project faced lengthy delays, the then government transferred the jurisdiction of Mathiveri Finolhu to Mathiveri, Alifu Alifu Atoll in 2023.

The Mathiveri council in an announcement revealed plans to develop a tourism zone in Mathiveri Finolhu. Interested investors have been invited to submit bids within 10 days.

The Island Council has allocated an area of ​​4,411 hectares for tourism development. The development opportunity is open for local individuals, companies and foreign investors. The price of bid documents has been set at around USD 5,000 with bid submissions open until 24 June.

Mathiveri is one of the more popular local tourism destinations in the country, with nearly two dozen guest houses currently in operation on the island.
