Vice President Attends Opening of Financing for Development Conference

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has attended the opening segment of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held on Monday in Seville, Spain.

The conference commenced with a formal opening session, followed by the election of the President of the Conference, with the Prime Minister of Spain assuming the role. This was succeeded by a series of high-level statements delivered by the heads of key United Nations bodies.

Following the opening ceremony, the conference moved into its General Debate. Heads of Delegation from countries across the globe took the floor to share national progress on financial development and outline future goals.

Over the coming days, the conference will feature a range of side events and multistakeholder thematic roundtables, focusing on critical issues such as reforming the international financial architecture and strengthening development cooperation.

The Vice President is currently in Spain to participate in several high-level engagements at the FfD4, taking place from 30 June 30 to 3 July, 2025, in Seville.
