Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen has departed for Türkiye to attend the 2025 Global Transport Connectivity Forum, scheduled to convene in Istanbul from 27 to 29 June. Organised by Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in partnership with the World Bank, the summit is designed to bolster international dialogue on strengthening transport corridors through sustainable, integrated, and resilient infrastructure.
The three-day gathering is expected to draw ministers, senior policymakers, financiers, and industry leaders. Delegates will examine infrastructure investment gaps, regional coordination, and technological innovations, from digitalisation to environmentally conscious systems. At the centre of this year's forum is the theme "Seamless Connectivity, Limitless Possibilities", a reflection of its ambition to promote efficient transport networks that extend beyond national frontiers.
Minister Ameen is slated to speak in a panel discussion titled "Maritime Connectivity for Island and Coastal Nations: Shared Opportunities, Distinct Challenges", the ministry said. The session, according to the ministry, will focus on both the shared constraints and unique prospects that small island states face in building resilient maritime infrastructure.
The ministry also pointed to the forum's wider agenda, which includes discussions on green transformation in the transport sector, the reinforcement of regional linkages, and the advancement of cross-border networks. Deliberations will touch on mechanisms for lifting barriers to investment and enabling closer cooperation among governments, international financial bodies, and private-sector actors, the ministry added.
