President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation with Azerbaijan as the country marks its Independence Day.
Extending sincere greetings to Azerbaijani President Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev and Prime Minister Ali Hidayat oghlu Asadov, President Muizzu acknowledged Azerbaijan's historic journey towards sovereignty and self-determination. He underscored that this milestone serves as a testament to the resilience and unity of the Azerbaijani people.
Alongside his diplomatic messages, the president conveyed personal wishes for the health, happiness, and wellbeing of Azerbaijan's leadership, expressing hope for the nation's continued progress and prosperity. Reaffirming the Maldives' commitment to fostering stronger relations, President Muizzu posted on his official X account earlier today, highlighting the dedication to expanding cooperation between the two nations.
"This historic day reflects the resilience and unity of the Azerbaijani people," President Muizzu stated in his post. "The Maldives remains committed to strengthening our friendship and cooperation in the years ahead."
Azerbaijan declared independence on 28 May 1918, marking a defining moment in its national history. The establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Azerbaijan occurred decades later, on 15 June 2006, laying the foundation for ongoing bilateral engagement.
