Dozens of youth queued up for the walk-in interview for the recruitment of 50 new immigration officers as the Controller General of Immigration, Commissioner of Police (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh assured applicants that the recruitment will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Immigration had said the interviews being conducted at Galolhu school in Male’ will continue until 5:00pm on Saturday.
Faseeh told PSM News that the sheer interest in joining the Immigration shows that the public accepts the services and work of the agency.
"I didn't think this would be so well received. This symbolises the public confidence in this institution," he said.
The Immigration had said the most qualified 50 candidates will be selected from the walk-in interview process, after which the selected candidates would have to take two exams before the final candidates are formally announced.
The newly recruited employees will be specially trained to work at Velana International Airport (VIA). In addition to Immigration, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) along with the Customs Service are also recruiting employees in preparation for the opening of the new passenger terminal at VIA later this year.
