Maldives Police Service (MPS) has put in motion plans to switch its headquarters from the capital Male’ to the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’.
The agreement for the new headquarters was signed during a ceremony on Thursday between MPS and Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen signed the agreement on behalf of MPS while Managing Director Mauroof Jameel signed the agreement on behalf of HDC.
Police however, have not disclosed any further information about the project or the agreement.
The Shaheed Hussain Adam Building is now used as the police headquarters. This building was opened in 1999 and was first used by the police and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). The building was dedicated to MPS after the police and MNDF were split as a separate service.
