Construction of New Muli Regional Hospital Building Kicks Off

Bolstering healthcare services in the Meemu Atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the construction of a new building for the Muli Regional Hospital.

The contract worth USD 11.1 million for the construction has been awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

This new construction project aims to expand and modernise the existing facilities, thereby enhancing the overall quality of healthcare available to residents. The new hospital building will be a modern four-story structure designed to accommodate the growing healthcare demands of the population by adding 50 hospital beds to the facility.

With advanced medical technology and spacious facilities, the new structure is expected to upgrade the existing healthcare services.

The new Muli Regional Hospital building is scheduled to be completed in 780 days and is projected to be finished by mid 2027. Once completed, it is poised to significantly improve healthcare accessibility for residents of Meemu Atoll.

The current 30 year old hospital building caters to the 7,400 population of Meemu Atoll. However, there has been little improvement in the quality of service in the past.

The inauguration of the new Muli Regional Hospital building project marks a progressive step towards modernising healthcare in the Maldives. It aligns with the Government's broader objectives of improving the quality of life for all citizens.
