The Maldives National University (MNU) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two international universities to strengthen educational partnerships. The MoUs were signed with The Hotel School Australia-Southern Cross University and Selangor Islamic University, Malaysia.
The MoU between MNU’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism of the Maldives National University and The Hotel School Australia- Southern Cross University seeks collaboration in the field of education and training for the international tourism industry. Under the agreement, research and educational opportunities will be facilitated for staff and students through exchange programmes.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam said the MoU will strengthen the tourism sector and higher education sector in line with international best practices. Executive General Manager of The Hotel School, Nicholas Hyde said the MoU would bring mutual benefit to both universities.
Meanwhile, an MoU was also signed between MNU and the Selangor Islamic University of Malaysia. Under this MoU, joint researches will be conducted by both universities on regional and international topics. Students and faculty will have the opportunity to participate in exchange programmes, while the universities will also work together to revive the religious and cultural heritage of both countries.
MNU aims to ensure that higher education in the Maldives meets international standards. The university is working to establish agreements with reputable universities to strengthen the education field and provide opportunities for students and staff.
