51 Indian troops stationed in Maldives return to India

The government has announced the return of 51 Indian troops stationed in two platforms, with efforts underway to redeploy all militants back home by next Friday, as confirmed by Chief Spokesperson Heena Waleed during a press conference.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu resolved to deploy Indian troops upon assuming office in November, aligning with agreements made by the previous administration. Negotiations led to the return of some Indian troops before March 10. Currently, Indian troops are actively engaged in three platforms in Maldives.

Moreover, discussions during the fourth high-level co-group meeting in New Delhi also addressed the redeployment of Indian troops stationed in Male’, with attendance of senior executives from both Indian and Maldives. The Maldivian administration stressed that redeployment is proceeding according to schedule, assuring its timely commencement. Similarly, the Indian government validated and provided assurance that all Indian troops will be redeployed by next Friday, fulfilling President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge.
