Fourth edition of "Black Marlin" military exercise commences

The fourth edition of "Black Marlin" has commenced as a result of a collaborative effort between the Montana Army National Guard and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

The training ceremony, held at MNDF's headquarters, was inaugurated by Chief of Defense Force Major General, Ibrahim Hilmee alongside Adjutant General of the Montana National Guard, Peter Ronek.

Scheduled to run until May 28, the training incorporates the "Five Subject Matter Expert Exchange Programme" (SMEE), encompassing Intelligence, Logistics, Medical, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and Infantry. While the infantry SMEE will be conducted in Kadhdhoo, Laamu Atoll, the remaining sessions are set to take place in Male'.

Additionally, MNDF introduced a new initiative titled the "Field Exchange Programme," aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Brigade or Battalion-level integrated cross-functional staff in leading and managing tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP). This initiative aims to facilitate a better understanding of staff officers' responsibilities, the military planning process, and training management.

The ceremony was attended by US Ambassador to the Maldives Hugo Yon, Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Ahmed Hiyaz, and other senior executives of MNDF.
