Inclusive play area opens in Kudakudhinge Bacheega

A special play area tailored for children with disabilities has been established in Kudakudhinge Bageecha through the initiative of the Rotary Club of Male’, with financial assistance from Sifainge Co-operative (SIFCO). The play area was launched by Chief of Defense Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmee.

The newly established play area includes a carousel designed for children in wheelchairs and swings adapted for children who cannot walk, allowing them to lie down comfortably. Additionally, arrangements have been made for parents to sit at one end and actively engage with their children.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Rotary Club of Male’, Abdulla Naushad, emphasised the necessity of facilities for children with disabilities, noting the lack of special equipment in existing parks. He highlighted that the play area aims to foster inclusive play without discrimination.

Addressing the event, Chief Executive Officer of SIFCO, Hawwa Shenin, hailed the addition and upgrades to the children’s park as significant enhancements.

The Rotary Club of Male’ is known for its efforts to improve societal conditions, having previously facilitated water plants in several countries and carried out various programmes over the past decade.
