PPM-PNC seeks legal advice on Anti-Defection bill

Progressive Congress Coalition has revealed that the President's deadline for ratifying the Anti-Defection bill is yet to pass. These remarks were made in response to concerns expressed by opposition parties regarding the President's approval of the Anti-Defection bill.

During a press conference led by the PPM-PNC spokesperson for the upcoming parliamentary election, Heena Waleed, affirmed that the Anti-Defection bill was forwarded by the Parliament to the President's Office on April 7 at 2135hrs. She further emphasised that the President has a legal right in attaining legal advice on the bill before approval, following its submission to the President's Office.

Moreover, Heena underscored that the President has 15 days to either approve the bill or return it for further consideration, with the deadline set for April 22.

The Anti-Defection bill, passed by parliament on April 1, mandates that elected parliamentarians must resign if they are to change parties or are expelled from them.
