Thalhath Hassan appointed Sergeant-at-Arms of Parliament

Major (rtd) Thalhath Hassan Fulhu has been appointed as the new Sergeant-at-Arms at Parliament.

Thalhath secured the position with the vote of 35 parliamentarians, following candidate interviews conducted by the Parliament. He is expected to assume his duties starting the upcoming Monday, as confirmed by Parliament.

Thalhath brings with him a wealth of experience, having served in the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) for over 21 years, attaining the rank of Major General before retiring. Additionally, he has served as a board member at the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).

Previously, Mohamed Haleem held the position of Sergeant-at-Arms at Parliament. However, he was relieved of his duties in August 2022 due to an ongoing investigation against him by Parliament. The role has remained vacant until Thalhath's appointment.
