Abdul Raheem to lead transitional committee

President of the People's National Congress (PNC) Abdul Raheem Abdulla has been appointed to lead the transitional committee. He is the interim leader of the coalition of PNC and the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is legally required to appoint any individual nominated by the President-elect for the position of Director General of Transition. The Director General of Transition must be provided with certain arrangements in accordance with the law. These include the office of the President-elect, equipment, employees, and their salaries and allowances. The maximum expenditure for the transitional committee is USD65,000, according to the Presidential Transition Act.

During a recent meeting, President Solih assured President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu that his administration is committed to facilitating a smooth and peaceful transition of government to the incoming administration in accordance with the Presidential Transition Act. He said that he would also form a special committee tasked with ensuring the transition of power, which would be led by the Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office Hussain Amir. He added that Chief of Staff of the President's Office Ali Zahir will supervise the committee's operations and a team of technical staff from the President's Office will assist the President-elect's team throughout the process.
