ECM invites 15 countries to observe presidential election 2023

The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has officially invited 15 countries to observe the upcoming presidential election.

ECM has announced that the upcoming presidential election will be held on September 9. A second round will also be held on September 30 if required.

ECM is currently making the necessary preparations for the election. As such, ECM officially invited 15 countries to observe the presidential election. The countries include Georgia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, South Africa, Kirgizstan, Honduras, Sri Lanka, Bosnia, Australia, Jordan, Canada, Japan, and Nepal. ECM also announced its decision to set up ballot boxes in eight countries for the upcoming presidential election.

ECM stated that applications for candidacy will be open from July 23 to August 3. Application for observers and monitors are to be opened from July 25 to August 13. Candidate names and numbers will be announced on August 9. In addition, candidates will be given time to campaign from August 10 to September 8. ECM also stated that more than 280,000 individuals are eligible to vote in the presidential election.
