MNDF denies ejecting parliamentarians during Presidential Address

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has refuted reports that its security team was involved in ejecting parliamentarians who caused a commotion during the Presidential Address.

In a statement, MNDF stated that the parliament security personnel was involved in ejecting the parliamentarians and that MNDF was not called on to intervene in the incident.

Parliamentarians representing the opposition coalition had attempted to disrupt this year’s Presidential Address. Five of the members were ejected from the Parliament chamber after the speaker called out their names.
