Awareness sessions to be held on internet safety for children

Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has announced that special sessions will be held to raise awareness among children about safe internet use.

The environment ministry and the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT) will be celebrating Cyber ​​Security Awareness Month. Special sessions will be held for students and parents from October 17-19.

The child safety sessions will be conducted online so that as many individuals as possible from different parts of the country can participate. One of the main themes of the sessions is internet safety for children and they will be conducted by experts from Microsoft which is one of the leading technology companies in the world.

The first session will focus on the dangers of messaging and communicating on various platforms online, what to watch out for and the safety measures to be taken when communicating online with strangers. In addition, the session will also cover the safety of digital devices used by children for learning, gaming, and what they should be aware of, and how to act in the event of an incident. The session, which is aimed at children between the ages of 13 and 18, aims to improve children's skills and make them use technology while isolating themselves from dangerous situations.

The second session will focus on children's digital footprints, the information others can find about them, and the side effects they can have. The children will also be taught how to communicate on social media safely by explaining the standards for sharing their personal information online, the importance of protecting privacy, and the dangers and negative aspects of oversharing.
