Prophet's life teaches value of coexisting in harmony: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed has stated that one of the most valuable lessons derived from the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is to be accepting of each other’s differences and to coexist in harmony with strong fraternal bonds. He made the remarks in a written statement to the nation on the occasion of Eid Milad ul-Nabi, the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In the written address, President Solih said the reason Muslims celebrate Eid Milad ul-Nabi is to remind themselves of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) so they can bless their lives in this world and the hereafter. The president emphasised the strong ties that have existed among Muslim communities for centuries and attributed the Islamic empire’s past successes to the unity of Muslims and their acceptance of other cultures.

In his address, President Solih also reflected on how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) promoted unity and urged Maldivians to make positive changes in their lives as they celebrate the auspicious occasion each year. He also encouraged all Muslims to be virtuous and to apply the tenets of Islam that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) demonstrated in their daily lives.
