Vice President visits areas under development in Hulhumale’ Phase II

Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited areas under development in Hulhumale’ Phase II to observe the progress of development work. He was accompanied at the visit by Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Suhail Ahmed and senior officials of HDC.

As part of the visit, the vice president first visited the sites of schools being developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II. As such, he observed the progress of the preschool and primary school currently under development and sought the latest updates regarding the projects. Ministry of Education is aiming to open the schools early next year.

The vice president also visited the site of coastal protection works underway in Hulhumale’ Phase II. He clarified information on the work being done to improve the conditions of the beach area.

Furthermore, the vice president also visited the bus stops in Hulhumale’ Phase II, and clarified the arrangements currently in place for the bus services in the area. He met and spoke with staff of the Maldives Transport Contracting Company (MTCC) and customers of the bus service, during the visit.

Hulhumale’ Phase II was first populated in 2020 when owners of land plots first sold in the area began moving into their new homes. The population of the area began increasing sharply when recipients of the 6,720 housing units developed under the Hiya housing project began moving into their flats last year. Several other housing projects are also underway in the area.
