Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced the 2022 Indo-Pacific Environmental Security Forum (IPESF) is set to begin in the Maldives.
The 2022 IPESF is hosted by MNDF and the US Indo-Pacific Command. The forum will be held in Kurumba Maldives from August 1-4. The forum will be attended by 100 representatives from 21 countries.
MNDF stated the IPESF will include presentations, panel sessions and group activities on four key themes. The key themes include Climate Security Challenges and Defence Forces, Small Island Nations Concerns, Ocean and Water Security, and Climate Change Impact and Solutions.
The IPESF was held virtually during the last two years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The forum was last held in the Maldives in 2014.
