The Scout Association of the Maldives has condemned the disrespectful use of the official scout uniform in the Eid activities held in Kinbidhoo, Thaa Atoll.
In a statement released on July 17, the scout association said the scout uniform was worn by a participant of the Eid activities in Kinbidhoo, in a manner that was disrespectful to the uniform as well as the scout movement. The association stated the uniform is only permitted to be worn by members of the scout movement, noting any use of the uniform outside the purposes of scouting is prohibited.
The scout association further stated the scout movement is the world’s largest unofficial educational movement that works on building responsible and capable communities. Therefore, the association said any disrespect towards the scout movement cannot be taken lightly, and called the actions in Kinbidhoo completely unacceptable. The association warned it will seek action against individuals that violate the regulations of the association and the scout movement.
