President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has advised Maldivians to forgive and make peace with one another, and cultivate familial bonds within the community. He made the remarks in his written address on the occasion of Eid al-Ad'ha.
In his message, President Solih extended sincere greetings and warm felicitations on the occasion to all Maldivian citizens as well as all the Muslims in Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage. The president also expressed best wishes to the members of the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid al-Ad'ha.
Furthermore, President Solih advised the public to consider the significance of an Eid falling after the Hajj pilgrimage. He highlighted some of the fundamental lessons derived from the rituals of the Hajj, including treating everyone fairly, promoting sociability and working together as a team for the same ambitions. He noted that these are qualities needed to solve communal issues that society faces today.
Additionally, President Solih emphasised the benefits of helping one another and said that simple acts of kindness such as exchanging gifts and wishing each other well would help end animosity and foster togetherness in the community. He also urged the public to put the good of the nation ahead of their own interests.
