Vehicles banned for two hours during first two days Eid in Male’ City

Male’ City Council has announced that the movement of vehicles will be banned from 1600hrs to 1800hrs during the first two days of Eid-al-Adha. As such, only law enforcement and emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel during these times.

The city council made the decision in its 59th general meeting for the current term. Vehicle movement was also banned during the afternoon of Eid-al-Fitr this year.

Male’ experiences high traffic due to congestion, making it difficult for residents to walk around the city. As such, Male’ City Council prohibits vehicles in the evening hours of Eid every year, to allow families to walk on the roads conveniently during this time.
