Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) has extended the deadline for submitting nominations for the Maldives Broadcasting Awards 2022.
BroadCom had initially set the deadline for submitting nominations as June 2. However, citing some difficulties faced by broadcasters in submitting nominations and to encourage more participation in the awards, the commission has extended the deadline for nominations until June 16.
BroadCom will be giving out awards in three categories, which are for production, journalism, and industry. The awards for production will be given to the best documentary programme, current affairs programme, entertainment programme, children’s programme, day-time programme, religious awareness programme, sports programme, as well as the best environment and social awareness programmes.
Additionally, the awards in the journalism category will be given to the best anchor, journalist, presenter, cameraperson, and the best up-and-coming journalist. The award in the industry category will be given to the best broadcasting channel in television and radio, the best inclusive broadcaster, and the most creative channel.
The purpose of the awards is to celebrate individuals who work in broadcasting and to pave the way for further development in the field, as well as to create public awareness of the importance of freedom of expression.
