Latheef appointed as Foreign Secretary, Ghafoor appointed as Ambassador at-Large

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Ahmed Latheef as Foreign Secretary and Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ahmed Latheef was appointed as the Foreign Secretary on May 1, replacing Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed who had been serving in the position up until the changes. Ghafoor was transferred to the position of Ambassador at-Large.

Ahmed Latheef had previously been serving as the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany. He has been replaced as the Ambassador to Germany by Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aishath Shan Shakir. This appointment has been sent to the Parliament of the Maldives for approval.
