Rough weather expected during Eid holidays

Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has revealed the Maldives is expected to experience rough weather during the upcoming Eid holidays.

MMS stated several regions of the country will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms during the holidays. MMS also expects rough seas and high winds in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, MMS has issued a white alert for the region between Shaviyani Atoll and Alifu Dhaalu Atoll due to heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts. The alert was issued for the time between 1230hrs and 1700hrs on April 29.

As per the records of MMS, Himandhoo in Alifu Alifu Atoll experienced the heaviest rain over the past 24 hours, with 57.2mm of rain. Other islands with heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours include Kaadedhdhoo and Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and Kadhdhoo in Laamu Atoll.

As many people are travelling for the Eid holidays, MMS has advised caution during sea transport amid the current weather.
