Island Beverages Maldives (IBM) has stated no controls or limits have been placed on the sale of bottled water.
IBM, operated under Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC), revealed bottled water is being produced and supplied as per the demand. However, IBM said there have been some difficulties in delivering bottled water during the month of Ramadan, due to the limited delivery hours. Noting the delivery hours are from 0900hrs until 1500hrs and from 2100hrs until 0230hrs, IBM said the shortened delivery hours have made it difficult to deliver water to supply boats carrying water to islands.
Furthermore, IBM said as the country goes through its hottest period of the year which also coincides with Ramadan, the demand for water has increased. However, IBM said there are no difficulties in producing water to match the increased demand.
IBM is the manufacturer and distributor of the Taza brand of bottled water. The 5L bottles of Taza are produced in Male’, while other sizes are produced in Hulhumale’.
