A fund has been established in the Maldives to seek assistance for the development of the broadcasting services sector.
The regulation stipulating the Trust Fund for the Development of Broadcasting Services in the Maldives has been passed and begun implementation by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission. Funds received as aid from local and foreigners to develop broadcasting services in the Maldives will be deposited to the fund, according to Broadcom. In this regard, the Trust Fund will be spent on six main areas, including assistance in providing opportunities for those who wish to start broadcasting services and activities to develop the broadcasting industry. It will also be used to assist researchers who facilitate the development of the broadcasting sector and to introduce and develop community broadcasting. The fund will also be funded to create awareness in the broadcasting sector.
Meanwhile, the Steering Committee of the Trust Fund, which operates in accordance with the Public Finance Regulations, is composed of the President of the commission, two members of the commission, an employee of the commission, and a representative appointed by the Ministry of Finance.
Broadcom has now publicly opened the opportunity to provide financial assistance to the Trust Fund.
