Driving license applicants no longer required to register at a driving school

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has amended the regulations on driving schools and instructors, removing the requirement for driving license applicants to register at a driving school.

The regulations previously required driving license applicants to complete 40 hours of driving for motorcycles and 30 hours of driving for four-wheelers at a driving school before taking the driving test. However, in the latest amendment to the regulations, this requirement has been removed.

Meanwhile, driving instructors are now required to complete a 6-hour training programme before registering as an instructor. The training includes a theory and practical test. Instructor licenses will be issued to individuals aged 18-60.

The amendments brought to the regulations will be in effect two months after its publication date.
