State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has urged the public to economise electricity usage as the country goes through its hottest month of the year.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) had stated the ongoing month of April will be the hottest month of the year. As this year’s April also coincides with the month of Ramadan, STELCO urged the public to economise electricity usage during this time. As such, the company called on the public to control the usage of high-power consuming devices such as air-conditioners.
MMS had revealed temperatures would generally be around 29.7 degrees Celsius during this month. MMS stated temperatures are expected to be particularly high in the central and northern atolls. Temperatures are expected to be highest around 1400hrs every day.
