Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has expressed concern over the delay in the completion of the tasks undertaken by the parliamentary committees.
Speaking at the Parliament, Speaker Nasheed said there are currently 25 bills pending in the committees. Expressing concern over the delay in completing the work on the bills, the speaker urged all members to work on the bills.
The government has decided to submit 36 bills to the parliament for the first term of this year. The bill includes amendments to 15 new bills and 21 amendment bills. Although several bills are scheduled to be worked on during the current session of the Parliament, some of the bills submitted to the Parliament during the previous session are currently pending in the committees.
