MPS to carry out special traffic operation during Ramadan

Commissioner of Police (CP) Mohamed Hameed has revealed Maldives Police Service (MPS) plans to carry out a special traffic operation during the month of Ramadan.

Speaking at a programme aired on PSM News, CP Hameed said MPS has planned a special operation to cope with the heavy traffic experienced in the Greater Male’ Region during Ramadan. As such, he said areas with mosques will be monitored by traffic police, and arrangements will be provided to ease parking issues in such areas. He added that changes will be brought to the traffic flow of areas with major mosques during the Tarawih prayer times during Ramadan.

Furthermore, the police commissioner said traffic police will also be active near the local market, schools, and other areas with heavy traffic. He added that the traffic police will continue to maintain the traffic near the Sinamale’ Bridge during Ramadan.
