Ministry of Higher Education has contracted a consultant to conduct a survey on the First Degree Grant Scheme.
The higher education ministry said a survey is being conducted on the free degree scheme, to analyse the distribution of students who have completed their degrees through the scheme and those who started but did not complete their degrees, by their age and gender. The survey also aims to identify the changes that have been brought to courses offered by higher education institutions since the beginning of the scheme.
The First Degree Grant Scheme was introduced by the government in 2019, to provide access to higher education opportunities for all. Over 13,000 students have enrolled in the scheme, including over 2,100 students who have completed their degrees through the scheme.
