The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened applications to appoint magistrates to 10 islands.
JSC is seeking chief magistrates for the courts in Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll and Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The commission is also seeking magistrates for the courts in Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, Nolhivaram in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Komandoo, and Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll, Feeali in Faafu Atoll, Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll and Faresmaathodaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The applicants are required to be over 25 years of age, with at least a diploma in sharia or law with two years of experience as a lawyer or judge, or two years of experience in a legal position in a court of law. The magistrates receive a monthly salary of USD1,500 and chief magistrates receive USD1,700.
This is the third time JSC opened applications to appoint magistrates to the courts in Feeali and Faresmaathodaa. The deadline to submit applications is April 20.
