Opposition’s lies exposed with the inauguration of NCPLE: Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff at the President’s Office Ali Zahir has stated the lies spread by the opposition regarding the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE) have been exposed with the inauguration of the institute.

Speaking to PSM News, Chief of Staff Zahir said the inauguration of NCPLE has laid out the truth to the public, and exposed the lies spread by the opposition who had claimed the facility was intended to be used as an Indian military base. Zahir said the facility has been completed and handed over to the Maldivian government as a training institute of Maldives Police Service (MPS) as well as other law enforcement bodies. He added the institute is an important development for the people of Addu, as it creates several new opportunities for the public.

The chief of staff criticised the opposition for spreading baseless lies regarding the institute to fulfill a political agenda. He noted the inauguration of the institute has exposed these lies and showed the lack of integrity of the opposition.

The NCPLE is expected to facilitate the training of law enforcement officers across the country and allow residents of Addu to more easily participate in training and educational programmes conducted by MPS. The academy will also increase the capacity of law enforcement in the region.

The academy is an important step towards the pledge of President Solih to prioritise training police officers and expand police services to all inhabited islands.
