JSC takes disciplinary action against Judge Sameer

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary action against Drug Court Judge Mohamed Sameer.

JSC had conducted a disciplinary investigation against Judge Sameer, in relation to his conduct in a case he oversaw while serving as a judge at the Criminal Court of the Maldives. He was investigated for comments made during a remand hearing of a sexual harassment suspect, in which he dismissed the severity of the case.

Following the investigation, JSC concluded Judge Sameer had breached the Judges Act and the Judges’ Code of Conduct. Consequently, JSC has mandated Judge Sameer to complete a training programme allocated by the commission.
