Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has established an online system for the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) to send documents related to criminal cases to magistrate courts.
DJA stated the system was developed to enable online submission of the documents for filing criminal charges in the courts by the PGO, which will help reduce administrative issues in the exchange of documents and ensure charges are lodged within the time frame stipulated in the law.
DJA stated that the system has already been introduced in the Criminal Court of the Maldives and is a temporary measure until the implementation of an integrated court management system that will enable electronic filing of cases, automating the whole process.
